More than 1.5 million vacant single-family homes and condos were scattered across neighborhoods in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2019. preREO strives to help institutions sell distressed mortgages to real estate investors who can better optimize the assets and improve communities nationwide.

After interviewing investors, analyzing that data, creating the brand, and solving their problems, we successfully created a functional version of the preREO App and marketing website that answered the pain points of investors.

Our main goal was to teach our users about what a preReo is, how they can benefit from investing in our company, and a fully functional app/website.

There was a gap in the market for preREOs, especially the knowledge of them. We wanted to solve this problem by educating our users and getting investors to sign up.


Getting our users up to speed and informed was one of the biggest challenges. We promoted boot camps and workshops to get the word out, along with UX research and interviewing potential investors to learn the problems they were facing and how we could solve them.

We knew some challenges would arise while going through this journey, but we overcame those challenges by analyzing the current market problems and listening to the feedback from investors.

Success Criteria

For the project to be considered a success, we would not only have to teach people a very little known concept, but also attract investors to make the company grow.

The idea of investing in preREO's this way would be the first of its kind.

By promoting seminars and bootcamps, interviewing potential investors, solving pain points in the current space, and creating an easy to use website and app, we achieved our goals.

Visual Styles

As wireframes gained fidelity, I established a design system for preREO, including visual styles and UI components. This system increased efficiency during high fidelity design iteration and helped maintain consistency across the platform.

Final Branding

After multiple iterations of the logo and colors we finally landed on one that would set the tone for the new and improved look.

The Solution

After several rounds of design iteration and development experimentation, we created a functional version of the preREO app.

We researched extensively, iterated rapidly, overcame various challenges, and successfully implemented a responsive application and website for preREO.
